Scott Alexander
American
Scott Alexander Siskind is an American psychiatrist who writes under the pen name Scott Alexander. He created Slate Star Codex in 2013, a widely-read blog on science, medicine, philosophy, politics, and futurism that became a hub of the rationalist community. After deleting the original blog in 2020, he relaunched as Astral Codex Ten on Substack in 2021. His essays — including "Who By Very Slow Decay" on dying in hospital and the "Sort By Controversial" short story that coined the term "scissor statement" — circulate widely outside the rationalist scene.
